Automatic tray sealers are the top of the sealing price range — from the mid five figures for a semi-automatic unit to six figures for a high-speed automatic MAP line, with tooling and change parts added per format. 5 questions to ask before you buy
- What does a complete tool change cost and how long does it take, demonstrated by my operators? The difference between a five-minute and a 45-minute changeover is the difference between three shifts of mixed-format output and a dedicated line.
- Which seal-strength test method do you guarantee, and at what pass value? A peel test to ASTM F88 is the documented reference; the pass value must be in the order, not implied.
- Who supplies the gas analyser, and how is residual oxygen verified? For MAP, the flush setting is meaningless without a headspace check on your sealed packs.
- Which sanitary design standard does the machine meet? For food, ask for washdown, 3-A or EHEDG — not just a "stainless" claim.
- Can you seal 200 packs with my tray and film and show me the seal-strength and residual-oxygen data on those exact packs? The witnessed run on your product is the only proof that matters.
