The core idea of this page: a checkweigher catches under/overfill by weighing every pack; a metal detector catches metal contamination. They catch different failures — install the one that matches your risk, or both.

Checkweighing

Weighs every pack in motion and rejects outside a target band. Catches underfill (legal risk) and overfill (giveaway). A Wipotec HC-A reaches 650 pc/min.

Metal detection

Finds ferrous and non-ferrous metal by electromagnetic field. Catches contamination, not weight error.

Decision rule

  • Sold by weight / fill accuracy → checkweigher.
  • Metal contamination risk → metal detector.
  • Both → install both.

Frequently asked questions

Can one machine do both?

Some integrated checkweigher-metal-detector combos exist, but most lines install two separate machines.
