How to Shortlist the Right End-of-Line Manufacturer

End-of-line machines are bought on patterns and rates, not just speeds. Evaluate each candidate on four criteria:

  1. Case and pallet patterns. Specify the exact case sizes, pallet footprints and stacking patterns — the machine must build your patterns, not the supplier's default.
  2. Sustained rate, not peak rate. A palletizer that hits the headline rate for ten minutes and then waits for a case gap is a bottleneck; ask for the sustained rate over a full shift.
  3. Changeover realism. Multi-SKU lines live or die on changeover; witness a full case-size and pattern changeover and time it.
  4. Load stability. Confirm the wrapping or hooding method keeps the load stable through your actual transport and storage conditions.

The end-of-line litmus test: hand the supplier your case sizes and pallet patterns and say: "Run a full pallet at the rate you quoted, then show me the load is stable through my transport." If the machine cannot hold the rate while building your pattern, it has not proven itself for your line.
